Food forests in public places Fruit trees, native shade and the basins that water them, planted with neighbors on streets, schoolyards and church grounds through our partnership with the Phoenix Food Forest. 
Free tools for every resident The planners on this site are free for anyone in Arizona: sun and shade, rain, planting and irrigation, on a satellite map of their own yard. Gifts keep them free. 
Homegrown food rescue Surplus fruit from Valley yards picked and carried to pantries, fridges and senior programs, and the fruit that's past eating composted instead of landfilled. 
Workdays that teach Permablitzes, harvest walks and milling classes where people learn by doing, then take the skills home. Free to join; donations pay for materials and organizing.
Why give to Homegrown Foods
Most of our work pays for itself We're an earned-income charity, like Goodwill: design and install work at fair prices covers the crews and the overhead. Your gift goes to what can't pay its own way, like public plantings, free tools and education. Real projects, in the ground Every program here is running today: yards transformed, trees planted on public land, harvests rescued. Read the case studies or come to a workday and see it. Accountable as a public charity Homegrown Foods is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 92-3311736, with an independent board. We report on what a gift did, and we'll share the numbers a grant needs.
Ways to give
A gift online One time or monthly, by card or bank, through our donation form. You get a receipt by email for your taxes. Sponsor a project Fund a planting, a workday or a school garden, with your organization's name on it. We'll put together the project, the budget and the report. Grants Foundations and agencies: the donor deck has our programs, outcomes and budget. Write to us for anything a proposal needs. Materials and equipment Soil, mulch, irrigation supplies, pavers, flagstone, lumber, shade cloth and trees. In-kind gifts go straight into projects. Land An outright gift, a bargain sale or a conservation easement, turned into a community orchard. Stock, planned gifts and matching Securities, bequests and charitable trusts, and employer matching that doubles what your team gives.
